Before you begin any task, ensure you have the essential tools at hand: T8 and T6 Torx screwdriver, plastic prying tool, and a spudger. Arrange them on a tidy, well-lit surface to avoid misplacing any components during the process.
To remove the battery pack from the controller, locate it at the center of the controller’s back. Press the latch and carefully take it out.
Once the battery pack is removed, two side grips will come into view. With the help of a plastic prying tool, carefully detach these side handles from both sides of the device.
Once the side handles are removed, use a T8 Torx screwdriver to remove five screws: two at the bottom of the handles, one in the middle of the controller, and another behind a sticker inside the battery compartment.
Once all the screws are removed, utilize the plastic pry tool to gently separate the two halves. Begin from the bottom where the second pair of screws were located, and gradually work your way around the sides until the two sections completely detach.
You will now see a small black plate that covers the inner parts of the controller. Use a T6 Torx screwdriver to carefully remove the screws securing it in place.
After carefully removing the screws, the faceplate of the controller can be easily lifted off, revealing the motherboard underneath. With the faceplate removed, the motherboard can now be detached without any difficulties.
Carefully disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the motherboard to the backplate using a spudger. This will allow you to fully separate the controller into two distinct parts.
